Cesarini Sforza was founded in 1974 when Count Lamberto Cesarini Sforza and a group of entrepreneurs established a house for high quality sparkling wine in Trento. The company focused early on the classic method for sparkling wine, releasing its first Metodo Classico in 1976 and pioneering a Pinot Noir rosato in 1985. Vineyards supplying the wines are mainly in the Val di Cembra and sit between about 300 and 600 meters above sea level, which gives the wines pronounced mountain character. The estate is also known for the Aquila Reale Riserva made from high altitude Chardonnay, and for its long cellaring and attention to traditional bottle aging practices.
